In the Penza region of the Russian Federation, an attack took place on the governmental agents of military commissariats who were conducting raids on recruitable men in public places.
In the town of Kuznetsk, Penza region, a veteran who lost his legs in Russia’s war against Ukraine attacked military police officers with a knife while they were checking men on the city streets.
A video clip posted on social networks shows a man in a wheelchair trying to ward off military police officers, using harsh language.
He pulled out a knife and tried to approach one of the officers.
“What will you tell their mothers later? I’m taking the boys. There’s no one to defend them, so I, a man without legs, will defend them”, he shouted.
ASTRA Channel reports that the war veteran in the video is Dmitri Afanasov, aged 34. He has had several criminal convictions and it seems that he enlisted in the Russian occupation army, being recruited from prison. In January 2025, he was hospitalized.
In the meantime, other videos from the Penza region continue to appear online, showing raids on men who are fit for military service.
In a video clip, a woman tries to free her husband, who had already been loaded into a security forces vehicle. “Someone help me”, she screams.
Another woman, outside the room, says that there is no one to help her, since everyone has already been taken.
Locals report that men are being detained and forced to sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense to be sent to fight in Ukraine.
