Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Wednesday that using Russian assets for Ukraine is equivalent to a declaration of war.
On his way to Brussels on Wednesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the seizure of Russian assets to finance Ukraine “can only be interpreted as a declaration of war.”
Orbán has consistently criticized the European Union’s policy towards Ukraine and has repeatedly threatened to block sanctions or additional measures that would support Kiev, writes Mediafax.
Other capitals have frequently criticized Orbán’s closeness to Moscow, including his visit last month to the Kremlin for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
The Hungarian Prime Minister said he recently wrote to Putin to ask if Russia will retaliate against the European Union.
Orbán said he is considering how member states will vote on the EU proposal before any potential retaliation, receiving confirmation that this was the plan.
