Major malfunctions in the operation of the social network VKontakte and the service Yandex Telemost were recorded on March 17, a few days after the introduction in Moscow of the so-called “white lists” of websites.

According to the platform Downdetector, users filed over 1194 complaints about the operation of VKontakte in a single day, with a peak around 18:00 (Moscow time). Most complaints came from the Altai region.

On the platform Sboy.rf over 1751 complaints were recorded regarding the operation of Yandex Telemost, especially from Moscow, Saint Petersburg and the Moscow region.

Previously, on March 13, after a week of mobile internet disruptions in Moscow, “white lists” were introduced – that is, a limited set of websites that remain accessible to users. These include the portal Gosuslugi, state institution websites, services of the company Yandex, VK social networks, as well as some marketplaces, banks and media institutions close to the Kremlin.

Mobile internet disruptions began in Moscow on the evening of March 5. In this context, according to Wildberries, pager sales in the capital increased by 73%, radio station sales by 27%, and landline phone sales by 25%. The bookstore network Chitai-Gorod reported an increase of about 50% in the sales of atlases and guides.

The service Yandex Taxi began to accept phone orders, and courier companies reported a decrease in the number of deliveries.

According to sources cited by the publication Kommersant, the economic losses caused by these disruptions in Moscow amount to about 1 billion rubles per day (about 11 million euros).
