President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Olga Stefanishina, the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, according to a presidential decree published Monday on the Ukrainian Presidency’s website, reports Ukrainska Pravda, according to News.ro.
Stefanişîna, former deputy prime minister, held this position for almost a year. The decree appointing her as ambassador was signed by Zelenski on August 27, 2025.
Before this, Stefanişîna served for a month as the special representative of the head of state for the development of cooperation with the USA, after previously holding the position of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The recall of the ambassador to the USA comes as President Zelenski is making various personnel changes in the administration following the unexpected resignation of the government led by Iulia Svîrîrdenko, after eight months in office.
Imminent embezzlement charges against the Ukrainian ambassador to the USA, Olga Stefanishina, seem to have hastened the decision to reshuffle the government just a year after the last reorganization, POLITICO wrote last month.
