Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski stated that he is “satisfied” with the results of a 40-day influence operation aimed at persuading Russia to “end the war.” His statements suggest that Ukrainian forces might continue attacks on Russian logistical infrastructure even after the initially set period has ended.
Zelenski instructed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to launch the operation at the end of June. The campaign culminated in actions that affected dozens of Russian oil tankers, which Kiev claims were supplying occupied Crimea, as well as the destruction of several warehouses belonging to the online retailer Wildberries, in various regions of Russia.
Until the conclusion of the operation, there was little public information about its exact scale and nature. On August 4, however, the SBU published a statement specifying that the actions carried out within the campaign aimed at the “simultaneous weakening of key elements of the Russian military machine”.
“I am satisfied, absolutely. Regarding our logistic responses, we understand how much they have lost. They have major issues“, Zelenski declared in an extensive interview granted to the Ukrainian national television program.
The Ukrainian president said that, after Russia began attacking Ukraine’s logistics, Ukrainian forces identified and struck another component of the Russian logistics system.
