The co-chair of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Alice Weidel, proposes that Berlin negotiate with Russia for deliveries of diesel, oil, and natural gas, following the model of the agreement concluded by American President Donald Trump.
“We, the AfD, want diesel deliveries, we want a diesel agreement for Germany. We want natural gas and oil from Russia to help German consumers and German companies,” said Weidel, quoted by Clash Report and Moscow Times.
She criticized the German government for its support of Ukraine and for the European Union’s sanctions policy, arguing that European countries are thus affecting their own economies and public finances.
Weidel noted that, while Germany supports new sanctions against Russia, Washington and Moscow reach agreements on fuel deliveries and other deals which, in her opinion, are beneficial for both parties.
