The United States will send approximately 400 – 500 soldiers, monitoring and communication equipment, drones, and refueling aircraft to Romania. The American request was approved on Wednesday by the Supreme Defense Council of the Country (CSAT).

These will be stationed at two air bases – “Mihail Kogâlniceanu” in Constanța and the one in Câmpia Turzii, according to hotnews.ro. After the CSAT decision, the Romanian Parliament must approve the permission.

Nicușor Dan announced that it is only about defensive equipment. The refueling aircraft will arrive in Romania first, and the rest of the equipment will be brought by the soldiers who are to be stationed across the Prut.

The Americans have permission to keep the soldiers and equipment for 90 days in Romania. If an extension of the term is necessary, the CSAT will convene again for a decision.

At the air base in Câmpia Turzii, the monitoring and information gathering systems will be stationed, specifically drones, as well as refueling aircraft that do not fit at the “Mihail Kogălniceanu” base. Defense officials told journalists that in the context of this detachment, Romania will not be threatened by Iranian attacks.
