The visit of American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Kiev, announced on Thursday by Vladimir Zelenski, could be cancelled. The press reports that Witkoff may have become scared, against the backdrop of increasingly frequent Russian bombings on the Ukrainian capital.

The information was published by The Kyiv Independent. Journalists quote a source familiar with the situation, who asserts that “the Russians don’t want them to come here, to Kiev, and Witkoff has always been sensitive to their feelings. They are told it is dangerous”.

American negotiators are expected to visit Ukraine and Russia on September 5-6, according to Meduza. According to TASS, Witkoff and Kushner will first travel to Moscow, then to Kiev.

According to The Kyiv Independent, the negotiators plan to fly to Ukraine. Previously, the press reported that Witkoff finds train travel difficult, which is why he would not have visited Ukraine.

The sky above Kiev has been closed since the beginning of the war, and foreign delegations usually travel to the capital of Ukraine by train.

Russian troops attack Kiev daily for over a week, including using reactive drones, which are harder to shoot down.
