In 2025, Yandex fulfilled a record number of requests from law enforcement agencies regarding the disclosure of citizens’ data, reports the “Mojem Obiasnit” project, citing the company’s transparency report.
Throughout the year, Yandex provided information in 93,647 cases, which represents 85% of the total requests received.
For comparison, in 2024 the company responded to 57,434 requests, which is 74% of the total requests from the authorities — a level that already constituted a negative record for the last five years.
In total, last year, Yandex received over 110,700 requests from law enforcement agencies and other state structures, the highest number since the start of statistics publication, in 2020. In 2024, the authorities submitted nearly 78,000 requests, in 2023 – almost 69,000, and in the first year of the war in Ukraine – 46,300.
Just like in previous years, the majority of requests in 2025 targeted the company’s transport and delivery services — taxi, deliveries, car-sharing, and electric scooter rentals. For these services, Yandex received 87,200 requests, which is 79% of the total. Out of these, 80,800 were approved, representing 85.4%.
The company most frequently agrees to disclose data within the food services sector, which includes food ordering and delivery applications. Over the course of the year, there were 25,200 such requests, of which nearly 88% were approved.
The report also shows that the number of refusals regarding requests related to Yandex ID accounts has significantly decreased. If in the first half of the year the refusal rate was 52%, in the second half it dropped to 36%.
