Russia has issued a direct warning to European countries that produce weapons for Ukraine. Arms factories in Europe could become military targets for Moscow, declared on Wednesday, September 30, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zaharova.

“Weapon factories in European countries that produce arms for Ukraine represent potential military targets for Russia,” declared Maria Zaharova, according to The Kyiv Independent.

The Russian official warned that military factories located outside of Ukraine should not be considered safe from a potential attack if they produce weapons intended for Kiev.

“One should not believe that military factories outside of Ukraine, which produce weapons for Kiev, will be safe. Anyone who thinks this way is mistaken,” Zaharova said.

The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also argued that European countries are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine.

“European countries are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine”, added Zaharova.

The Russian official’s statements were made a few hours after Moscow issued a new threat to NATO, in the context of tensions related to the Kaliningrad region.

At the same time, Western officials are increasingly warning about alleged hybrid warfare operations conducted by Russia on NATO territory, especially in the countries on the eastern flank of the Alliance and in the states supporting Ukraine.
