It is the Ukrainians’ job to choose their leader, asserted Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, in an interview broadcasted on Sunday, on ABC channel, after the American president publicly demanded that Ukraine should change its leader. The leader from Kiev discussed this topic in an interview broadcasted on Sunday by the American channel ABC, reports Agerpres.

“With all due respect to President Trump, it is the job of our society, of our people, to choose one leader or another“, stated Zelenski, who also reminded, in the same context, that Vladimir Putin would also prefer a different person in power in Kiev.

The Ukrainian president also rejected the accusation that his country would be responsible for the increase in fuel prices, saying it is convenient to place the blame on Ukraine, “when everyone in the world understands that, due to the war in the Middle East, prices are rising.”

Elections in exchange for a 60-day armistice

Zelenski repeated the offer he has made in the past: Ukraine would organize elections if Russia accepts a complete ceasefire for two months.

“Please convey to Putin: give us two months, 60 days of total ceasefire – 60 days – and we will organize elections“, he declared on the “This Week” show.

“Of course, we will be ready to accept any choice of our people,” added Zelenski.

The Ukrainian leader also spoke about the latest days of war, which he described as a “difficult week”. According to him, Russia launched 196 air attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and 153 civilians lost their lives.
