Russia should put forward a list of targets that the Ukrainian army will not be allowed to attack, as part of an energy armistice, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, quoted by The Moscow Times.

We are prepared for an energy armistice, but we must understand what this means for Ukraine. For Putin, energy means selling oil and gas. For us, energy means electricity and gas for our people,” Zelenski said in an interview with CBS News.

According to him, American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner raised the issue of halting attacks on energy facilities during recent discussions in Kiev. More precisely, they asked Kiev not to strike oil refineries in Russia.

Zelenski also mentioned that the blockade of grain exports needs to be resolved, as Ukraine needs to sell about 30 million tons of agricultural products, while Russia needs 70 million tons.

Even during a war, certain de-escalation opportunities can be found. If you negotiate, it means you demonstrate goodwill or political will to end the fighting“, Zelenski emphasized.
