The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has commented on the statements of Russian military personnel and President Vladimir Putin regarding the takeover of the cities of Guleaipole, in the Zaporozhye region, and Mirnograd, in the Donetsk region, stating that these are not confirmed by facts.
“The situation in Guleaipole, Zaporozhye region, is difficult, but the defense operation in the town continues. Ukrainian military personnel are still actively destroying the infantry groups of the occupiers within the city,” the Ukrainian army statement said, quoted by BBC News.
“The operational situation in Mirnograd also remains complicated, but the enemy units, as before, fail to implement their plans to capture the Pokrovsk – Mirnograd agglomeration, instead resorting to the weapon of disinformation,” the quoted source specifies.
Ukrainian military personnel have stated that Russian claims of control over half of the city of Konstantinovka, in the Donetsk region, are also a fabrication: “The Defense Forces of Ukraine maintain defensive lines and destroy the enemy as they approach the town.”
The General Staff mentions that, in the case of the city of Kupiansk, the Russian leadership has reported several times about taking control over it.
“In reality, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, through well-coordinated actions, have liberated a number of localities north of Kupiansk, have cleared most of the city and have blocked the remnants of the Russian group. A similar situation is also in Pokrovsk, the capture of which the aggressor has been talking about since the end of last September,” the Ukrainian military added.
