The official fund for Donald Trump’s Peace Council is empty, and the organization remains stuck in a legal and political void, just a few months after it was heavily promoted by Trump and his administration, reports FT.
Donald Trump described the so-called Peace Council as “one of the most important international organizations ever created”. Trump wanted to extract a billion dollars from each world leader who would have wanted to participate in this initiative.
The “member” states have committed to provide seven billion dollars for the “aid package” for Gaza, and Trump himself has promised another ten billion from American funds.
Four months later, however, the “piggy bank” of the Peace Council is empty, and the organization has not received a single cent from its donors, according to four people familiar with the discussions.
“Zero dollars were deposited,” said one of the sources quoted by FT.
Instead of using the fund managed by the World Bank and supported by the UN, the Council only received donations directly into its JPMorgan account, said the organization’s spokesperson and another person familiar with its financial arrangements.
