Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continued on Monday at a faster pace than before last week’s agreement between Iran and the United States. Ships pass through the area, even though the Iranians announced on Saturday that they are closing again the route which before the war accounted for a fifth of the world’s oil and gas transports.

The latest data from maritime monitoring platforms indicate a “cautious but noticeable relaunch of traffic following the agreement protocol, even though daily evolution remains volatile,” writes Agerpres, referring to Mihail Todorov, representative of the navigation data provider AXSMarine.

On Monday afternoon, 26 ships passed through the strait. The volume of traffic is almost identical to that of Thursday and Saturday.

The record from the beginning of the war was reached on Saturday. Then, 38 crossings were reported, of which 32 were mineral and oil carriers, and the rest – container ships. Analysts do not rule out that Monday’s balance could exceed this level by the end of the day.
