Nicușor Dan is going to Kiev on July 15th. The leader from Cotroceni has scheduled a discussion with Vladimir Zelenski, and among the key topics is cooperation for air defense.
Romania and Ukraine have signed an agreement on anti-drone protection. President Dan stated in an interview published on Antena 3 that it is about cooperation within the SAFE Program.
“As you know, the president’s visit was about three months ago. On that occasion, we signed an agreement on this subject. There were some technical visits that followed. In July, there will be another technical visit to operationalize this type of cooperation.”
Within the SAFE program, we have 200 million euros allocated for this drone segment, for anti-drone systems, in which there will be collaboration with the Ukrainian side. I hope that very soon these things will materialize into contracts to start production,” said the Romanian president.
Speaking about the drone incidents in Constanța, Nicușor Dan mentioned that the subject was discussed with the Ukrainian side, and the shell that exploded was not targeting the Romanian port. Other information, according to the president, will be made public after all investigations are completed.
