President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he would accept the results of the midterm elections if they were “fair,” CNN reports.
“Yes, I will accept them, if the election is fair,” Trump told reporters when pressed on whether he would accept the results “no matter what happens.”
The president has repeatedly attacked the integrity of the electoral process and used the federal government to try to exert greater control over how states oversee their elections, News. reports.
Last week, the president said he had ordered the Justice Department to preemptively file a lawsuit challenging the certification of the Senate election results in Alaska should the Republican incumbent lose.
Trump stressed on Tuesday that even if Democrats win control of the House of Representatives next week, he will still have the power to exercise his veto over legislation.
“Look, I have strong veto power. I hope it won’t come to that, but if it does, it’s happened before with many presidents. You have strong veto power, and you end up making deals,” he said.
US President Donald Trump has pledged a $1 million reward for information about election fraud in the United States, the Financial Times reports. The announcement came just days before the midterm elections, which will determine control of Congress.
“Anyone who reports fraud in past elections or in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections will receive $1,000,000 following the arrest and conviction of those responsible,” Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social.
The midterm elections take place on November 3 and could shift the balance of power in Washington. If Republicans lose control of the House of Representatives and the Senate, Trump would face greater difficulty carrying out his political agenda.
