Ukrainian military expert Oleh Zhdanov has noted a possible link between the full moon and large-scale Russian attacks on Ukraine. Ihor Mekheda, a researcher of mystical practices, believes these coincidences may be connected to the alleged occult beliefs of Vladimir Putin and his inner circle.
Military expert Oleh Zhdanov made these remarks in comments to the Ukrainian news outlet TSN.ua.
According to Zhdanov, over the past 12 months, from October 2025 to October 27, 2026, Russia reportedly carried out large-scale attacks on Ukraine during full moons. These reportedly involved drones, missiles, or a combination of both. At the same time, Russian forces continued to attack Ukraine on other days as well.
“This could even give rise to conspiracy theories. Every full moon, they launch a massive attack on our country. That is what the statistics show. I don’t believe in conspiracy theories or concern myself with such things, but unfortunately, this coincidence does exist,” Zhdanov said.
Could there be a hidden motive?
Igor Mehheda, a researcher of mystical practices, has previously claimed that Vladimir Putin and his inner circle are interested in shamanism and the occult. He believes the timing of Russian attacks to coincide with certain phases of the Moon may not be a coincidence.
According to Mehheda, some Russian attacks may have taken place during solar or lunar eclipses, or at the time of a full or new moon. The researcher attributes this possible timing to mystical beliefs that Russia’s leadership may hold.
He states that in some ancient spiritual traditions, including the Vedic traditions, the full moon was associated with a pact between humans and higher powers.
In his view, the Kremlin’s leaders may believe that performing rituals and conducting military operations on certain days could improve their chances of victory. Mehheda stresses, however, that such beliefs are misguided.
His statements do not demonstrate that Russia’s military decisions are influenced by rituals or the phases of the Moon.
Comparisons with Nazi Germany
Mehheda compares the Russian leadership’s alleged use of mystical practices to certain practices attributed to Nazi Germany.
According to the researcher, Adolf Hitler is said to have consulted astrologers who advised him on supposedly auspicious times for military operations. The researcher claims that the British later managed to feed false information to German astrologers in an effort to influence their predictions.
Mehheda also draws a parallel between the alleged practices of the Russian leadership and the activities of Ahnenerbe, an organization founded in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. According to him, the organization allegedly sought to incorporate mythological elements into military operations.
