A small-sized rocket, roughly the size of a breadstick, is presented as one of Europe’s most promising solutions to counter drone attacks launched by Russia.

The device, named Mark 1, is developed by Frankenburg Technologies, led by former Estonian defense official, Kusti Salm. With a length of 65 centimeters – shorter than a human arm – the weapon is designed to be the first line of defense against long-range drones.

“An affordable rocket, made for mass production”

Frankenburg describes Mark 1 as a “pocket” rocket, designed to be mass-produced at low costs. The company claims that its price represents about a tenth of the cost of conventional anti-aircraft rockets. Independent estimates place the cost of a unit at around 50,000 dollars.

“We want to bring accessibility and scalability to a sector that has so far operated more like a luxury industry,” stated Kusti Salm.

Two factories located in NATO member states are prepared to produce hundreds of rockets per day, the goal being to create an industrial capacity that can respond quickly to the intensification of air attacks.

Mark 1 has a range of approximately 2 kilometers and an accuracy of about 56%, which the company hopes to increase to 90% with the improvement of manufacturing processes.
