On October 13, an alert was triggered at Nurnberg Airport. An aircraft from Corendon Airlines transmitted the 7500 signal – meaning it had been hijacked.
The aircraft was coming from Corfu. Following the signal, the German airport suspended all flights. For the escort of the plane, Eurofighter military aircraft were lifted into the air.
Ambulances, police officers, masked men, firefighters, and special services employees intervened. The plane from Greece landed successfully at 12:16, while other flights were redirected to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Memmingen, and Munich.
Subsequently, the suspicions regarding the urgency turned out to be unfounded. All flight restrictions were lifted around 13:30. The investigation is set to determine the circumstances of the alert.
