Germany intends to call home the two ships it has sent to the waters of the African state Djibouti, in anticipation of the demining mission in the Strait of Hormuz.
The decision to recall will be taken if the conditions for the deployment of these vessels in the Strait of Hormuz are not met soon, declared on Wednesday in Berlin, the German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, reports DPA, according to Agerpres.
“Ships will not wait indefinitely,” Pistorius said at a press conference, alongside Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte.
He mentioned that it is impossible to predict when the conditions for securing the strategic maritime route will be met.
According to the German press, the Berlin government sent the mine sweeper Fulda and the supply ship Mosel to the region in mid-June, in preparation for the demining operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
