Israel might be “forced to act again” against Iran, to prevent this country from becoming “a threat to Israel” again, declared on Thursday the Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, according to AFP and Xinhua, quoted by Agerpres.
Despite the efforts initiated together with the USA, “it is possible that we may soon have to act again to ensure the achievement of these objectives,” Katz said during a military ceremony.
He said that his country supports the negotiations between Washington and Tehran regarding a potential agreement.
The Israeli official added that Israel will continue its offensive against the Shiite organization Hezbollah in Lebanon “exactly as it did in Gaza”, specifying that the Israeli army will act to destroy the entire infrastructure of the militants from what it calls the “yellow line”, a buffer zone declared by the Israeli side along the border and which extends to the Litani River.
The Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have resulted in over 2,500 deaths and 1 million displaced persons since the beginning of March, according to Lebanese authorities.
