Finland is strengthening its defense systems against drones, against the backdrop of massive consolidation of military capabilities in the countries on the eastern flank of NATO following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Nordic country has acquired hundreds of jamming and detection systems, in an effort to protect critical infrastructure and its own troops, reports Agerpres.
The widespread use of drones on the Ukrainian front and the incident in September, when 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace and were shot down, have accelerated the defensive measures of the allied states.
Colonel Mano-Mikael Nokelainen, a representative of Finnish anti-aircraft defense, confirmed that the Armed Forces have purchased SkyWiper Omni Max jamming systems, produced by the Lithuanian company NT Service.
These devices can create an electromagnetic “dome” that blocks the control and navigation signals of drones, being intended to protect essential infrastructure, including military bases.
