Kazakhstan has resumed oil exports through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), after operations were suspended following drone attacks on oil tankers in the Black Sea, which blocked the main export route of Kazakh oil.

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy has announced that the loading of oil tankers is currently taking place at two of the single point mooring (SPM) loading buoys of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

The SEAMAJESTY and MILOS oil tankers are loading crude oil supplied by Tengizchevroil, the operator of the largest oil field in Kazakhstan, writes The Astana Times.

The resumption of operations allows companies to resume oil deliveries in the pipeline system of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and exports through the Novorossiisk maritime terminal.

The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has conveyed that it is constantly monitoring the security situation and collaborating with CPC and the involved companies to ensure the continuity of transportation.

The suspension of operations occurred after drone attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea, which Kazakhstan condemned, considering them a threat to international energy security.

Oil transports have been resumed, while the consortium gradually returns to normal export operations, while also maintaining enhanced safety measures.

Following the announcement regarding the temporary halt of oil deliveries, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that Romania is not facing the risk of a fuel supply crisis.

“Given the situation on the fuel market in the context of the war situation in the Black Sea, which increases the risk for transporters, the drone attacks that have affected delivery capacities from Kazakhstan. At least for the next two weeks, we do not estimate that there will be supply-related problems,” Bolojan declared last Thursday at a press conference.
