The Kremlin rules out a possible summit between Russian and American presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, during the latter’s planned visit to Saudi Arabia in May.
The Middle Eastern country has recently hosted several rounds of Russian-American negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine and the normalization of relations between Washington and Moscow, announces Agerpres.
“The plans are of the American head of state. They have nothing to do with Putin,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov about Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia
.”For now, Putin has no plans for a meeting with Trump,” stated Peskov. “There is no clear plan yet regarding the date and location of a possible meeting between Putin and Trump,” and “we continue to have contacts at different levels through different communication channels,” added the Kremlin spokesperson.Donald Trump stated on March 31 that he plans to visit Saudi Arabia “next month.” This would be his first official overseas visit since returning to the White House in January. The American president announced in February that he will “probably” meet with Vladimir Putin in this country, but has not yet specified a date.”
