The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has warned its citizens to avoid traveling to Moldova. According to diplomats from Moscow, cases of “discrimination, unjustified harassment, and improper treatment” by the authorities are reportedly occurring in our country.
The Russian authority notes that upon landing at Chisinau International Airport, holders of Russian passports are subjected to “humiliating searches and inspections”. According to officials from Moscow, they should expect to wait for hours in the transit area.
“There have been cases where Russian citizens have spent over two days at the airport. This has often been followed by a refusal of entry into the country under invented pretexts. Arbitrary application of the law, forced detention at the border, and criminal prosecution without credible evidence are common. Upon departure from Chisinau, the artificial delay of security procedures is frequently practiced, leading to missed flights”, is stated in the information published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
Officials in our country are accused of not allowing Russian diplomats to speak with the affected citizens and provide them with consular assistance.
“Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia strongly recommends Russian citizens to take these risks into account and, if possible, refrain from traveling to the Republic of Moldova”, is stated in the declaration.
The diplomacy in Chisinau has not commented on the information published by the Russian authority at the time of the news publication.
