The European Commission is reportedly planning to set up camps for migrants facing expulsion procedures in partner countries such as Moldova, Albania and Serbia. This information was published in an article written by “The Times” with reference to an unnamed source. The authorities in Chisinau deny these rumors.

According to Daniel Vodă, spokesperson for the Government of the Republic of Moldova, this is false information.

“Let it be clear: the Government is not discussing such a proposal and will not accept such ideas,” Vodă said in a message published on Telegram.

For information regarding government decisions, citizens are urged to obtain information from reliable official sources, such as Prima Sursa, an official information verification channel created by the authorities, the Government spokesperson emphasized. The information about the migrant camps was disseminated by several media outlets.

“This is not the first time that such fakes have appeared in the public space. “Fake information appeared on exactly the same topic in 2020, just like before the presidential elections. It is to the advantage of media outlets affiliated with opposition political leaders to distribute this information, in order to misinform the public,” Valeriu Pașa, president of the WatchDog community in Moldova, told IPN.
