German investigators have discovered a third drone and explosives that could be linked to the attempted attack on Leipzig airport. The German press announces that the equipment was located in an area to the west of the air station.
Law enforcement officers have also discovered approximately 50 grams of a substance suspected to be hexogen (RDX), 10 days after the first incident. It is a powerful explosive, used in the military field.
On August 4, a drone loaded with explosives was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane, used for transport by the military, reports news.ro. A second drone would have collided with a DHL cargo plane, shortly after the temporary suspension of the airport’s activity.
The Leipzig air station is a military and cargo logistics hub, used by NATO and the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines to transport military equipment.
Sources in the security field, quoted by the press, have said that there are suspicions regarding the involvement of the Russian secret services in these cases. Moscow has denied the allegations.
