The Estonian Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, stated that Estonia could host allied nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO deems it necessary, writes RBC Ukraine. Subsequently, the Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said that “if nuclear weapons aimed against us are deployed on Estonian territory, then Estonian territory will be the target of our nuclear weapons”, according to Russian media.
“Bringing a nuclear weapon onto our territory – we are not against this. We do not have a doctrine where we would have excluded it if NATO considers it necessary in accordance with our defense plans, the deployment of a nuclear weapon, for example, on our territory”, stated the Estonian minister.
He also added that Estonia’s foreign policy has not changed. The government in Tallinn intends to continue to put pressure on Russia and support Ukraine, whose territorial integrity remains a priority.
