    The officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău announce that the crisis cell is monitoring security developments in the Middle East, and among the victims there are no persons originating from the Republic of Moldova.

    The Moldovan MFA officials mention that, “following checks carried out with the Israeli authorities, among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova there are no registered victims or injured persons”.

    And the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Israel, Alex Roitman, stated that “the security situation in the State of Israel remains complex”.

    “We come with the repeated request to continue to respect the precautionary measures. It is imperative to continue to stay in the anti-missile shelters, not to leave the protected spaces until the Internal Front Command will announce this. This situation may last a few more days. Avoid non-essential travel. New instructions will follow, please carefully follow the updated information. Citizens of the Republic of Moldova can mark their presence in the territory of the State of Israel, voluntarily and can request emergency consular assistance at: Phone: +972 52-278-7326; +972 52 778 9772. E_mail: tel-aviv@mfa.gov.md”, the diplomat mentioned.

    Regarding the state of Qatar, where on February 28 there were missile and drone attacks on military targets, including the Al-Udeid air base, the MFA employees emphasize that, “following checks carried out with the Qatari authorities, among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova there are no registered victims or injured persons. The airspace remains closed. The Qatari authorities have announced that the situation is under control and have urged the population to stay in their homes and avoid non-essential travel”.

    Also, there are no Moldovans affected in the United Arab Emirates, following the incidents reported on March 1 regarding drone attacks on Dubai Airport (DBX) and Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH).

    “The local authorities are monitoring the situation and are expected to communicate any additional measures. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the United Arab Emirates is constantly monitoring developments and checking the potential impact on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova”, the MFA representatives added.

    The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also provided explanations about the situation in Turkey.

    “The airspace of Egypt remains operational. A Turkish airline announced the suspension of flights to Lebanon and Jordan until March 2. It is recommended to constantly check the status of flights before going to the airport”, the officials explained.

    In addition, the authorities provided information about Azerbaijan, stating that, “following the recent events in Iran and the contradictory information appeared in the public space, the security situation in the area is unstable and can change quickly. Additional security measures and restrictions may be imposed. There is a risk of regional tensions and unpredictable developments. The Azerbaijan-Iran land border remains closed for regular passenger traffic”.

    In the meantime, Moldovan officials recommend citizens in the conflict area to:

    – avoid non-essential travel to the affected areas;

    – constantly check the status of flights;

    – follow the instructions of the local authorities;

    – keep in touch with the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova;

    – get information exclusively from official sources”, the MFA representatives concluded.

    The total war in the Middle East entered its second day on Sunday, after, on Saturday, the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a joint military operation of the United States and Israel. Tehran retaliated by attacking American bases in the region and launching new waves of missiles towards Israel, while pro-Iran demonstrations took place in several countries in the region.
