The United States and Iran have agreed to resume negotiations on a nuclear deal, with the first meeting set to take place on Friday in Oman, reports the BBC. The news comes just days after Donald Trump threatened Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, confirmed that the meeting will start at 10:00 local time in Muscat. The information was also confirmed by the Americans. Until recently, the organization of the talks seemed to hit a new obstacle as the two countries could not agree on where the meeting should take place.

Trump has increased the American military presence in the region and threatened a new military action against the Iranian regime if it does not return to the negotiating table for a new nuclear deal and if it does not stop killing protesters.

When asked if Ali Khamenei should be worried, Trump replied – “I say he should be very worried”. Khamenei warned the US on Sunday that any attack on Iran would trigger a “regional war”.
