China confirmed on Monday a state visit by Donald Trump. The American leader will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday and will be there until Thursday.

The agenda includes discussions with counterpart Xi Jinping, discussions about the war in Iran and trade disputes, according to news.ro. The visit will be the first by an American president since 2017.

“At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, the President of the United States of America Donald J. Trump will make a state visit to China from May 13 to 15,” announced the Chinese diplomacy in a statement.

China long refrained from confirming the dates of the Republican billionaire’s visit, a common practice due to uncertainties during the war period.

The White House initially announced that the American president’s visit to China was set to take place at the end of March and beginning of April. Then, Donald Trump said he had postponed it due to the war in Iran.

Among the topics discussed could also be included American sanctions, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, customs duties, and the issue of Taiwan.
