The American President Donald Trump criticized Ukraine on Monday for the alleged drone attack denounced by Russia on a residence of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, an attack however denied by the Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, reports AFP and EFE agencies.

“I don’t like it. It’s not good. I found out this morning. You know who told me? President Putin, this morning. He said he was attacked. It’s not good,” the US President declared to the press while receiving the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Moreover, Trump said he is “very angry”.

“It’s a delicate period. It’s not the right time. One thing is to attack because they attack. But it’s a completely different thing to attack Putin’s house,” he added accusingly towards Ukraine, which denied the attack and accused Russia of lying.

The accusation, initially made by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, has since been reiterated by other officials in Moscow. According to Lavrov, Ukraine launched 91 long-range drones last night towards President Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, but all these drones were shot down by Russian anti-aircraft.

“We do not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process with the USA. However, given the final degeneration of the criminal regime in Kiev, which has turned towards a policy of state terrorism, Russia’s negotiating positions will be revised,” the head of Russian diplomacy further stated.

Targets have already been selected for retaliatory strikes by Russia, added the head of Russian diplomacy.

The message was conveyed in the phone call that Trump and Putin had on Monday after the negotiations held on Sunday at Mar-a-Lago between Trump and Zelenski regarding a new counter-proposal for a peace plan in 20 points formulated by the latter, after an initial plan in 28 points proposed by the American President last month was modified several times following objections from Kiev and its European supporters, unhappy that the initial document took over a series of Russian claims, including the surrender of the entire Donbas to it.

Zelenski immediately denied that Ukraine had tried to hit that residence of Putin and argued that Russia thus seeks to undermine the peace process and justify attacks on Ukrainian government buildings. He described Lavrov’s statements about the Ukrainian attack on a residence of Putin as ‘typical Russian lying tactics’. ‘It is important now that the world does not remain silent and that the Russians do not undermine progress towards peace’, Zelenski emphasized, asking Trump to respond appropriately to Russian threats.
