Ukraine and Germany take a new step in strengthening military cooperation, moving from arms deliveries to the development and joint production of defense technologies. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced, during the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, held in the Ramstein format, the signing of an agreement on the joint production of ballistic missiles and anti-ballistic defense systems on Ukrainian territory.

The announcement comes at a time when Ukraine continues to face intense Russian missile attacks, and the need for anti-aircraft defense systems and ammunition remains one of the most pressing challenges for Kiev.

According to Zelenski, the project will combine the experience and technologies developed by the Ukrainian rocket industry with the industrial and financial capabilities of the German defense sector.

“Russian ballistic missiles continue to pose one of the most challenging threats to our air defense systems,” the Ukrainian leader declared. He emphasized that, although Ukraine manages to intercept about 90% of drones and cruise missiles launched by Russia, defense against ballistic missiles requires additional solutions and more advanced technologies.

The Ukrainian president stated that the national industry already has the necessary infrastructure and expertise for the production of modern missile systems, and the partnership with Germany will accelerate the development of this strategic sector.

The first tangible results of the collaboration are expected to be presented by the end of this year, according to officials from Kiev.
