The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, stated that Ukraine is preparing a “fair response” to the Russian attacks that took place despite the ceasefire regime announced by Kiev starting from May 6th.
From his statements, it appears that a potential attack could take place during the Victory Day parade in Moscow, on May 9th. At the beginning of the week, Zelensky had stated that Ukrainian drones could “fly at the parade” instead of Russian military equipment, whose march through Red Square was cancelled for the first time since 2007.
“Today, practically all day, almost every hour, information about attacks has been coming from different regions of the country… Russia has not stopped any type of military activity. Ukraine will respond in kind. Depending on the situation tonight and tomorrow, we will also decide on our fully justified responses,” Zelenski wrote on Telegram.
“Russia has carried the war to the point where their main parade now depends on us. And this is a clear signal: the war must end,” added the Ukrainian leader.
Zelenski reminded that he proposed to Moscow a ceasefire starting from May 6th and emphasized that Russia knows how to contact Ukraine to agree on the details of such a truce.
“However, if a person from Moscow, who cannot live without war, is only interested in a parade and nothing else, then it’s a different situation. Ukraine is ready to work for peace and wants to end this war with dignity,” Zelenski declared.
