Alexander Lukashenko highlighted the recent increase in Belarus’s capabilities within the framework of cooperation with Russia, during a meeting with the governor of the Russian region of Arkhangelsk, Alexander Tsybulsky, which took place in Minsk on August 24, reports the state news agency BELTA.
“Whether we like it or not, our capabilities have increased recently in relation to Russia,” stated Aleksandr Lukashenko.
“Today, we are compelled to stand on the front line with you. We cannot avoid this. The importance of Belarus is increasing in the context of the events unfolding around us. We know what role we have to play in the world, and its success largely depends on our relations with the Russian Federation,” emphasized the President of Belarus.
“For now, everything is going well. We manage both to anticipate and to discourage our potential adversaries – let’s call them, for now, adversaries, not enemies. They realize that we are vigilant. And even when we rest, we keep our eyes on what matters.”
In July, Lukashenko promised not to send Belarusian soldiers to the front in Ukraine. He made this statement during the ceremony honoring the graduates of higher military education institutions and high-ranking officers.
