“The Chief of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Mark Rutte, had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during his visit to Chisinau, where the two also discussed the security situation in the region.

The leader of Chisinau, Maia Sandu, had a meeting on Tuesday, 15 April, with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Mark Rutte, who was in transit in the Republic of Moldova, according to representatives of the Presidential Administration.

“The discussions between the two officials focused on security developments in the region, efforts to restore peace, and cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the North Atlantic Alliance, based on the new Individual Partnership Program adopted by the Government in January 2025. Moldova has been cooperating with NATO within the Partnership for Peace for over 30 years – a cooperation that respects our country’s constitutional status of neutrality and contributes to the increase of safety for citizens. The support of the Alliance has helped Moldova strengthen its capacity to prevent and respond to crises, modernize its institutions in the security and defense sector, and protect its information and cyber space,” the Presidential institution’s press release states.”
