Withdrawn texts, forbidden statements and undesirable people – The experience of a Moldovan journalist on Sputnik Moldova radio
Representation Sputnik.MD manipulated with public opinion from the first moment after they came to the Republic of Moldova. Selective events, omissions of important topics in the country, but also creating a favorable image for some politicians. And if these comments can be inferred from a monitoring of the institution, this has recently been confirmed by a former employee. Journalist Valeriu Reniță was active on Sputnik radio for about six months, during which time several texts and broadcasts were withdrawn.
“At Sputnik, I was moderating the show “Expertise” and writing articles for the site, but I only wrote two-three months, because they started to withdraw my texts and refuse to broadcast some recorded shows. There have been a few such cases, and that means humiliation on a professional level. Moreover, it is not explained to me what criteria they did not fit into. I, like the fool, asked every time, but clearly I wasn’t answered,” Renita said.
The journalist said on a TVC21 that during the six months, he was banned from publishing about six analytical material and broadcasting several radio broadcasts. Thus, this is one of the basic reasons why he left the newsroom.
Renita reported that a very eloquent case occurred recently when, during a broadcast, he asked several experts for the opinion of several experts on the Russian $200 million loan. Among his interlocutors was a journalist specializing in the economic field, who stated that some provisions of the contract need to be revised. It was because of this opinion that the show was banned from broadcasting, writes Deschide.md quoting Renita.
“Someone was listening to my show and this hidden enemy of theirs was tracked down. They later told me that because of those statements we couldn’t publish the show. It is true that at that time I received an explanation, but I asked what the journalist said so seriously. He stated that paragraph 7.2 should be reviewed by specialists,” Renita recalled.
Valeriu Reniță was a radio reporter for the Republic of Moldova on Radio “Svoboda” (Liberty) and the BBC from 1991 to 1993, and in 1992, during the Nistru conflict, he was a war reporter for RadioSvoboda. Between 2004-2009 he was Director-General of the State Information Agency «Moldpres».
Regarding the Sputnik News Agency, on the telegram channel “Mamaliga I Tokana”, whose authors are anonymous, an article was published late last year stating that Sputnik does not have a concept and a clear understanding of what the Moldovan newsroom should be. Moreover, according to the cited source, the Chisinau newsroom is being sought a role.
The radio station Sputnik Moldova started its activity in the Republic of Moldova on February 7, 2015, and is part of the International Press Agency and Radio Sputnik with multimedia branches in dozens of countries of the world.
